Well there was some fishing this week…noting outstanding, but there is no better feeling in the world then casting a fly rod…
I ended up fishing a rain storm (thus no pictures), with Conklin on Saturday. Figuring that a cooler rain and cold front would start the fall transition, we jumped on the opportunity. All in all, about 6 fish caught, and surprisingly 4 of them were perch. Turns out that beyond the shelf we were fishing, a school must have been hovering, and were anxious to take any minnow pattern we threw. The bass were small, which is a good sign of younger year classes…
I did manage to rookie-up a fish that I wish I had back…
Casting into the perch, I was turned talking with Conklin when the rod nearly shot out of my hands. Within seconds the 3x tippet snapped and I was left to wonder what had taken that bugger. Honest opinion has to be a carp…but I have seen some massive bass in the pond, so I suppose anything is possible.
As my grandfather would say…the back of summer is broken, and I’m ready to get back into my fishing routine…
With no pictures, I figured I’d youtube you…

That video was amazing. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that.
