"Get Ready For Salmon-Flavored Vodka"

(and lets to the salmon dance!)

"The five-year-old Alaska Distillery uses all Alaska products when it can: grain from Delta Junction, potatoes from the Matanuska-Susitna valley, glacier ice from Prince William Sound, and now salmon caught in the Gulf of Alaska."

Weekly Update...Late...

We're late...with no good reason...

We managed to get out last Thursday in the yak to chase some fish...with some mixed results. No lunker fish but plenty of bass and large gills to go around...

No money shots...

Then Friday night I had the GREAT idea to go out and fish the local golf course ponds for the lunkers well after dark...

Nada...zilch...zero.

We gave it the old college try...but got no love from the fish Gods....

Hopefully the week brings us better luck...

Boz Gets Some Press Time...

While Boz continues his annual summer tradition of showing sports around Maine's fabled North Woods, we figured we'd share a little article he was featured it...
written in a little known publication...

Perhaps you've heard of it???

Field and Stream?

Yeah...here's an excerpt:

We were beaching the raft on Salmon Point, on the West Branch of the Penobscot River, with the evening bite warming up and rising fish stippling the water as if pebbles were dribbling down from heaven.

A couple of old-timers motoring by in a square-stern canoe asked where we were headed.

'On down a bit,' guide Greg Bostater replied. 'Through the falls to Abol Bridge.'

'You’re kidding us,' snorted one plaid-clad man. 'What, you have a death wish or something?'

'Those falls aren’t that bad,' Bostater called back, laughing.

He fixed me with a motherly look. 'Really, they’re not.'"

Honestly a great piece of writing that not only illustrates Boz's knowledge, but his uncanny ability to find fish, and determination to get them on your line!

Article is in the July 2010 article of Field and Stream (T . EDWARD NICKENS). Make sure to pick up a copy, and also keep checking the Maine River Guides website for updated pictures, reports, and to find out how to book a trip with Boz.

Justin In Action...

We haven't heard from our friend camped out on the Vineyard, but Dan just got back with some proof that he's still terrorizing the blues and stripes…

Check him and a report out on Chagrin River Outfitter’s Blog…

Orvis Names Top Fly Fishing Guide for 2010

While I've not had the privilege of fishing with him, we’ve heard that Capt. Joe Demalderis is not only stand up guy, but a hell of a fisherman and guide…

Maine...

Another great video from the guys over at flies and fins...

Gosh we love Maine...

Weekly Update...

"Well, not too fishing for the week, but a good one none the less…

Got to see my beloved Red Sox play a few games earlier in the week…

But Friday I was able to get out for a few hours to cast bugs to bass…and boy was I glad I did…

Fish were off beds and starting to stack up in their normal summer haunts…both gills and bass were waiting bugs close to covered shores, and some inner docks. Size of the fly didn’t matter, nor color…though the larger flies kept some of the smaller gills off the hook. Some great fishing though, to some hungry fish…

Weekly Update...

Kind of a quiet week...one day of fishing, but Conklin and I TORE up the gills coming off of beds. We managed a few bass as well...

No pictures...

Another quiet week planned, but hopefully we'll manage to get some shots and perhaps lay a line or two...

Rumor has it the green drakes are on in PA this week...supposed to be one of the better hatches in recent years...

BP Notes...

Many of the othe blogs are getting on the "fuck BP" train pretty well, so I've been trying to bite my tounge...but i just ran across this an figured I'd share...

Weekly Update...

Sorry for the late update…holiday weekend got me in a fluster…few reasons which we’re trying to iron out, and hopefully will be done soon…

No camping…and it blew…

Spent most of the weekend “preparing” the house…but was able to sneak out for some fishy explorations. Another major accomplishment for a second weekend in a row…Amy landed her first fish on a fly rod. Wasn’t much of a fighter, but a fish none the less…

SCORE!

Bass and ‘Gills are starting to bed big time…which has a lot of their mind elsewhere…but some of the fish are starting to come off and focus on the feeding portion of their summer…

Beetles close to shore took care of everything…

Best view in the boat!

Pouting because he can't chase geese...

But still thinking about it...

Little bit of this...

Overlooking this...

Not a stellar weekend, but fun none the less...

Busy next weekend...but there should be some fishy stories to share...

Calling on the Prof. for some mid week bassing also...things are looking up!
