Steelheading: Week #19

OK…there’s light at the end of the tunnel…water is flowing in the tributaries, people are fishing…the temps are rising…

Things are looking a lot better. At the moment, none of the major rivers are fishing, however many of the smaller tributaries are holding fish. Many of the fish, from what I’m gathering, are older beat up fish. The rivers have only been open for about a week or so, and with ice still on the lake, it’s doubtful that large pushes of fish will begin for some time….

HOWEVER, it doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy the fruits that do venture into the systems. As normal, with cloudy, cold water, the bright eggs have been the tickets…but soon it will be straight swinging for this fly flinger. As I finish up the winter home fixins, I’m looking forward to some time on the water next weekend…

The wife is taking advantage of opportunities back home in CT for the next several weeks, so yours truly (along with my side kick Finn), will have the house to ourselves, and time to burn on the river. Game on…Spring time is here!
